Until now, if you wanted to get your hands on Tom Ford's glamorous and sophisticated designs - which are revered by its celebrity wearers and the fashion press worldwide - you'd have to book a plane to Milan and stock up there.
But, as of today, Ford has expanded into the UK with a boutique space in the mecca for all things luxury: Harrods. As well as Ford's ready-to-wear pieces, the boutique will stock bags, shoes and jewellery.
Marigay McKee, fashion and beauty director at Harrods, is obviously enthused to be exclusively stocking Ford's work: "The entire collection is stunning, having the ability to render living creatures momentarily breathless," she said.
"Tom Ford is a true visionary, the master of creating glamorous lust-after pieces which are effortlessly chic," added McKee.
Ford was welcomed back onto the womenswear scene with open arms in 2010 after a six-year hiatus. Since his departure from Italian house Gucci in 2004, he turned his hand to an eponymous beauty, fragrance and menswear line, also finding time for a directorial debut with the film A Single Man , which starred Julianne Moore and Colin Firth.
Dresses by Ford, who has chosen to present his spring/summer 2012 collection at London Fashion Week in September, can hit the £10,000-plus mark. But at least now we can just go and have a proper look …

Pierre Balmain Spring/Summer 2012 Model: Snejana Onopka
Until now, Paris Fashion Week favourite Balmain has only been the preserve of the super-rich (£4,395 for a suede maxi-skirt, anyone?), but the Parisian label's new sister line, Pierre Balmain, hopes to bridge the gap.
The first collection, for spring/summer 2012, will feature T-shirts starting at £105, while evening dresses will have price tags of around £795.
"We see Pierre Balmain as a new and distinct brand that is inspired by the successes and history of a great house, but offers a look and product that respond to the needs and desires of today's marketplace," said Alain Hivelin, Balmain chairman and chief executive officer.
The new line will drop in stores worldwide from December, while Paris, Milan, Rome and Hong Kong will all receive stand-alone Pierre Balmain boutiques.
Catering for both men and women with denim, tailoring and knitwear, the collection aims to be more relaxed and casual than Balmain's high-glamour ready-to-wear offerings.
Olivier Rousteing, the new creative director at Balmain, will concentrate solely on the big sister line while a separate design team will make up the Pierre Balmain stable.
