Almost seven years after his H&M collaboration, Karl Lagerfeld is back with another one-off mass collection, this time for Macy's. The 45-piece collection, which hits 235 of the 800-plus Macy's stores and Macys.com on Aug. 31, promises to incorporate Lagerfeld's signature style — high-collared pieces, as well as edgier, rock'n'roll looks — and run $50 to $170.
The August 2011 issue of Vogue provides a first look at the collection: a $109 dress that Lagerfeld describes as "a coup d'oeil to the dresses I designed for Chloe and the girlish, more romantic mood of the seventies." As for why he decided to work with Macy's on the collection for the past year, Lagerfeld says: "These partnerships are a working holiday from my normal discipline, and I like to think differently."
After Lagerfeld, Macy's will reportedly feature Giambattista Valli in November, and then for Holiday 2011, Lagerfeld will be back along with three other designers for more Macy's exclusives.

Bearing in mind its founder’s indelible words—”navy blue is the only color which can ever compete with black”—the house of Dior is celebrating shades of navy with its Fall color collection. Its Blue Tie range includes a silver Cannage compact with an eye shadow quad of shimmering sapphire, dark midnight, deep marine, and rich pewter pigment for building the perfect smoky blue eye, as well as two different blush duos and four shades of neutral lipstick. But it’s the trio of nail lacquers that we’re most excited about. Having never much cared for black varnish, navy has always been our preferred alternative for dark tips, making us fast fans of Tuxedo, a glimmering shade of the dark hue. Blue Denim offers a creamy homage to medium-blue jeans, while Dior’s existent Beige Safari provides a nude contrast that, when painted on, is like foundation for your nails. If you feel like getting a little funky, we’d suggest slicking on two coats of Beige Safari topped off with a few swipes of Tuxedo for a chic update on the French manicure.
