It's official: Tom Ford's much anticipated Rodeo Drive boutique will opens today, Friday, February 27, joining the corridor's new crop of high-end retailers including Lanvin, Badgley Mischka, Stephen Webster, and Agent Provocateur. The star-studded opening party was held last night at the bi-level boutique, attended by the designer, Rachel Zoe, Eva Longoria, Tom Hanks, and His Orangeness, Valentino, among others.
The Rodeo Drive outpost is the first built to house the new Tom Ford womenswear collection, and boasts an entire second floor in order to accommodate the new line, with the first floor dedicated to the perfumery, menswear clothing, and accessories. The terraced second floor houses a series of three womenswear salons, encompassing an eveningwear room, a daywear room, and a shoe room, rounded out by a handbag wall.
Now here’s a vacation video we won’t get bored watching: As part of the Kate Moss for Longchamp Spring 2011 campaign, the globe-trotting supermodel will appear in a short film as a super-sexy tourist wandering through exotic Morocco.
Artistic and intimate, Faraway—which is also the name of Moss’s latest Longchamp collection—was inspired by the British beauty’s travels. In director Alasdair McLellan’s Super 8-style film, Nancy Sinatra is heard singing as Moss, wearing various bags from her line, including the earth-toned Gloucester duffel and the colorful Peruvian basket bag, strolls around Marrakech.
The full-length version of Faraway will premiere March 7 at longchamp.com/faraway, along with an online exhibit of “travel diaries” featuring photos submitted by 10 bloggers. The March madness will culminate with a Faraway app for the iPhone and Android at the end of the month.
