This Friday, Valentino’s collection for Gap hits Colette in Paris, the Oxford Circus
flagship in London and the store’s new Milanese outpost (the one the collection’s
celebrating in the first place). Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have
worked overtime to make ruffles a sort of signature of the Italian house, and they’ve
carried their efforts into their collection for Gap. Thick ruffles adorn fitted army jackets,
cargo pants and full skirts. There are six pieces total (paired here with the brilliant
leather skirt Gap’s produced for fall; it’s available in America) ranging from $110 to
$250. Of course, that doesn’t factor in the price of a plane ticket.  If you’re stuck
stateside, it feels a bit like the year Phoebe Philo not-so-secretly designed for
Gap’s European collection and we were left with plain old khakis and cable knit
sweaters.
